Clean Calicut Campaign

It’s estimated that 50% of plastic is used only once and then thrown away. This
single-use plastic is what we want to target by reducing the use of plastic coffee
cups, utensils, takeaway containers, toothbrushes, straws and plastic bottles to name a few. The Green Carnival campaign is here to make a difference by involving as many as 1000 volunteers to collect and up cycle single use plastic waste from Calicut city.
Our mission is to collect approx. 1.5 kg plastic waste per person and together
1.5 tons plastic will be collected from Calicut city and nearby places in one day.
The collected plastic will be then cleaned and up-cycled into a giant plastic
installation art at our festival venue and later recycled responsibly.
The Campaign is a creative collaboration with Mirror, an NGO formed with the motive to raise the quality of life rather than its standard. Mirror has been getting associated with creative projects which are holistic and sustainable and their collaboration and support for Calico Carnival helps to keep the festival plastic free and the installation would stand as a political statement on how fast we human beings are destroying mother earth with our irresponsible deeds.
